Man was traveling 100 mph in DUI crash that killed 25-year-old, records state
A man has been arrested in connection with the 2016 DUI crash death of Richard Edwards, a 25-year-old from Muscle Shoals.
Labrandon Dantez Thompson was indicted for manslaughter by a recent session of the Colbert County grand jury, records show. Thompson was taken into custody Tuesday. He was released from the Colbert County Jail on $25,000 bail. Attempts to reach him for comment weren’t immediately successful.
Thompson was driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding when his 2008 Chevy Impala left Cox Boulevard in Sheffield during the early morning hours of Jan. 10, 2016, according to the indictment. AL.com obtained a crash report that estimates the vehicle was traveling 100 mph in the 35-mph zone near Physicians Drive. Edwards was riding in the back seat.
