Bill would give chronic drunken drivers another chance

Convicted drunken drivers don’t have a big fan club at the Capitol, where in recent decades lawmakers have progressively toughened state laws against driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.


But one state lawmaker is bucking that trend by trying to build support for a measure that would let thousands of people who permanently lost their licenses after a fourth DUI conviction get a limited permit designed to let them drive to and from work.
