CHP: DUI caused triple fatal crash

A pileup that killed three people and injured five others Friday night was caused by a 25-year-old San Diego man who was driving under the influence, the California Highway Patrol said.

William Cady was arrested at a hospital on suspicion of drunken driving, the CHP said.

The four-vehicle collision occurred on the Interstate 805 north transition ramp to westbound state Route 52 about 11:15 p.m., when a Cadillac Escalade carrying six people went off the road, up a dirt embankment and rolled over multiple times, according to the CHP.
