Court wants explanation for DWI blood sample

A divided N.C. Court of Appeals panel wants the judge in a Chatham County drunk-driving case to explain why he thought a Chatham sheriff’s deputy didn’t have time to get a warrant before forcing the driver to give a blood sample.

The 2-1 ruling was a partial victory for prosecutors who in 2013 convinced a jury to convict Ronald Michael McCrary, 58, on charges of driving while impaired and communicating threats.
