Driver’s licence revoked for drunk driving? In Canada you can still fly a plane — or private helicopter

When a Toronto-area man lost his driver’s licence due to an impaired driving conviction, an acquaintance alleges he took the unusual — and surprisingly legal — step of simply substituting his truck with a private helicopter.

 

“He was literally using it just to fly himself to the cottage, fly himself to his friend’s houses,” said Brad Harris, a York Region man who says he knows the pilot, Bruce Lakie, through personal channels.
