Police accused a Darien man of crashing his car into another car after speeding into a liquor store parking lot before colliding with the store on Tuesday, July 1.
A person was waiting in his car to turn onto the Post Road at 5:06 p.m. when he noticed a Mercedes approaching quickly. John Roney, 53, of Long Neck Point Road, drove a 2009 Mercedes E-350 into the stationary vehicle, police said, before then crashing into Frate’s Liquor. The other driver told police that Roney appeared unaware of where he was, so the driver removed the keys from Roney’s car.
