A North Vernon man is in custody after he ran from a trooper conducting a traffic stop for drunk driving.

ISP Trooper Stephen Wheeles stopped James Earl, 35, for a traffic violation on Country Squire Boulevard near Hoosier Drive. As Wheeles checked the driver’s registration, he noticed behavior consistent with drunk driving and saw a small boy in the back seat of the car.
