A southeast Georgia fire chief has been placed on leave after being charged with driving under the influence.
The Savannah Morning News reports the Georgia State Patrol arrested Springfield Fire Chief Travis Craig Zittrouer early Saturday and charged him with DUI and speeding. Springfield is a city of about 2,800 people in Effingham County northwest of Savannah.
City Manager Brett Bennett says he placed the fire chief on administrative leave while he reviews the arrest. It was not known if Zittrouer had an attorney.
