A 56-year-old Melrose man with a prior drunken driving conviction was charged with felony driving while intoxicated after State Police said they stopped his pickup on Route 40.
Troopers said they initially stopped Edward R. Wallace’s Ford after recording him doing 50 mph, 15 miles over the speed limit.
State Police said they smelled alcohol when they approached Wallace, 56. He allegedly failed a field sobriety test and refused to take an alcohol breath test when brought to the State Police barracks in Brunswick.
