Man sentenced for seventh DUI has long history of offenses

The recent conviction and sentencing of a habitual drunk driver raises questions about how someone can repeatedly endanger the community by driving under the influence of alcohol.

Recently convicted of his fifth driving under the influence felony offense — and seventh lifetime DUI offense — Jayson Lee Hof, 43, won’t pose a threat to the community for at least a decade. That’s because 3rd District Judge Molly J. Huskey sentenced Hof to serve 40 years in prison with 10 years fixed for his latest conviction, along with a persistent violator enhancement.
