Man’s drunk driving conviction set aside

A Hammonds Plains man had an impaired driving conviction overturned over allegations he wasn’t in a soundproof room — and thus didn’t have privacy — when he called a lawyer.


Blair William MacKinnon, 41, was stopped in May 2012 and taken to an interview room at the Tantallon RCMP detachment. While he was on the phone, MacKinnon could hear the officer who stopped him humming outside the door.
