A Metairie man faked his own carjacking in an attempt to avoid getting a DWI, authorities with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Jail records show Ornaldo Cabrera-Lopez, of 2425 Minnesota Street, was arrested Sunday (Oct. 26), a week after JPSO said the 36-year-old abandoned his car while drunk, and later reported it stolen.
