Prosecutor: Rockaway Twp. cop tried to fix two DWI tickets

Two weeks before he allegedly tried to get a cousin’s drunken driving ticket dismissed, suspended Rockaway Township Police Officer Clifton “Clif” Gauthier tried to interfere with the driving while intoxicated prosecution of an uncle, according to court papers filed Wednesday.

Morris County Assistant Prosecutor Sahil Kabse filed a motion with Superior Court Judge Robert J. Gilson in Morristown that seeks the introduction of evidence at a possible trial that Gauthier, 35, of Sparta, tried to influence the Rockaway Township Municipal Court outcome of a drunken driving charge against his uncle, Edward Garneau.
