Sears charged with DWI

James G. Sears III, 32, of Sedalia, has been charged with one count of a DWI–alcohol–persistent offender, a class D felony, and one count of driving while revoked or suspended, which is also a class D felony. Charges were filed Jan. 5.

According to a probable cause statement from the Marshall Police Department, around 11:52 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, two MPD officers observed a vehicle swerving on and off the road. The vehicle was pulled over when it served towards a pole, appearing to be making a turn and abruptly turned back into its own lane. Upon approaching the vehicle officers, noted two people inside. Sears was driving and admitted his license was suspended, but said he was driving because the female was intoxicated.
