Woman given prison sentence after fifth DUI
A Tuscaloosa woman will spend three years in prison after pleading guilty to her fifth DUI.
Christina Lancaster, 44, pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident with injuries and her fifth driving under the influence charge in January.
Saying she has begun intensive treatment for alcohol abuse, she applied for probation, which Tuscaloosa County Circuit Court Judge James Roberts denied at a hearing Wednesday.
Lancaster caused a crash near the Winn-Dixie at Five Points on Dec. 3, 2015. The driver of the other vehicle was seriously injured.
Lancaster drove to a friend’s house, and called 911 to report she had been the victim of a hit-and-run. Police arrived 30 minutes after the crash and arrested Lancaster after learning she left the accident scene and had a blood alcohol level of 0.33 — more than four times the legal limit of .08.
